My son suddenly became obsessed with my only velvet scrunchie. Out of nowhere, it became an item of comfort and something I could use to get him to listen a bit better, like when he doesn’t want me to brush his teeth after he’s already had his turn to them himself.

I remembered seeing crocheted scrunchies before, I even made some in my high school days. So I sat down and knocked out a couple of these without realizing what a great TOY they would be for my 3-year-old. The next day I made a few more so he had a nice rainbow assortment. He stacks them, he wears them, he counts them, he tells me their colors, it’s hours of entertainment!

This pattern is very basic and customizable.
