This is a pattern for nine different sizes of garter stitch stars, ranging from 2 - 6” which can be stacked together to make a rainbow tree. All the stars are knitted from the same basic formula; you just work more repeats for the bigger sizes.

It’s an easy pattern, you only need to know how to cast on and off, to work kf&b and pf&b and to knit two stitches together. The stars could also be used to make bunting or hanging ornaments. I knitted my tree in DK weight yarn and it’s about 23 cm or 9” tall but you could use other weights of yarn to make different sized stars.

All my ravelry patterns are free to download but, if you enjoy them, please consider making a donation to the Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, a charity which funds research and supports the families of children with a liver disease. You can do this easily by going to my fundraising page www.justgiving.com/frankiesknittedstuff

Happy Knitting!
