A fortuitous discovery of pattern, at a time when I was desperately trying to find something unisex for a pile of holiday knitted-gifts. Choose a favorite color (or colors, this pattern works well with variegated yarns as well!) and size and these can fit just about anyone on your list!

While these pieces were designed with Aran weight yarn, you can substitute with worsted weight, just swatch first and cast on any multiple of 6 sts that would yield you the right measurements! I’d be happy to work with you on the math if you contact me with your gauge!

Approximate Dimensions/sizes:
Hat:
Small: Unblocked, about 7” across brim (laid flat) and 10” brim to crown. Blocked, 7.75” across brim.
Large: Unblocked, about 8” across brim (laid flat) and 10.75” brim to crown. Blocked, 9” across brim.
The hat will fit a variety of head sizes, small stretched to snugly fit a 22.5” head, and the large will go up to 24” as the rib stitch is quite elastic, as long as your cast on isn’t tight.
Mitts:
Small: unblocked approx. 2.75” across and 9” long (laid flat). Mitts will also fit a variety of sizes because of the stretchy ribbing. The sample pair (also small) fit everyone from a smaller adult female to a medium-large male (the only complaint was about the cast on edge being a little snug, so if you are knitting for a larger person, be sure to cast on looser rather than tighter!)
Large: unblocked, about 3.25” across and 9” long.
