The Stained Glass Socks are worked seamlessley toe-up and using Jenny’s magic cast on and a shadow wrap heel. They feature a wrap around pattern on the leg that is made using stranded colourwork, and finished with a 1x1 twisted rib cuff.

Three sizes are available, S(M,L) to fit feet with a circumference of 8”(9”,10”) / 20(22.5, 25)cm , measured around the widest part of your foot (usally the ball of your foot just behind your toes).

This pattern calls for 2 yarns. For the sample I used Lang Jawoll 4ply in Black and Gusto Wool Nokta Sock in shade 1202. I have UK size 7 feet and needed 2 balls of the Jawoll and 1 of the Gusto. However any yarn that allows you to hit gauge and has some nylon in it for strength will work nicely. For the MC, the quantity you will need will vary greatly depending on your shoe size, but plan for needing 220-285m/245-310yds of MC and 60-75m/65-82yds of CC for a UK size 6-8 foot. You will need an extra approx 17m(18yds) per additional inch of foot length.

As the colourwork pattern is quite detailed there needs to be a high level of contrast between the two yarns, and also your contrast colour shouldn’t be overly busy, or the pattern will get lost. I highly reccomend taking a photo of the two yarns you plan to use together and applying a greyscale filter. This will allow you to see how much contrast there is in the colours and so if they will be suitable for this pattern.
