Knitted in the round, Staircase Mitts have thumb gussets and corrugated ribs. Instructions for left and right mitts are identical; designed to avoid a pattern jog at the beginning of the round.

Written instructions for construction include the corrugated rib. The Gridlock colourwork pattern and thumb gusset are charted.

To fit 16½(19:21½)cm / 6½(7½:8½)in hand circumference. Unstretched hand circumference is 15½(18:21cm / 6(7:8¼)in; choose a size with 0–2cm / 0–¾in negative ease. All sizes are 18cm / 7¼in long.

Two colours of 4 ply/fingering weight yarn, each with approx 105 metres (115 yards) per 25g; one ball each of main and contrast colours.
