Stairs Motif Crochet Pattern
This fun crochet pattern is for making a pretty geometric stairs motif.
The motif can be made as a square or rectangle and can be used for many projects such as: blankets, bags, rugs, pillow covers and more.
A project could be made of as many motifs as you like.
You can crochet a blanket by joining small squares or a rug from a single large rectangle, as shown here, the possibilities are endless !!
*******************************************
In the pattern you will learn how to crochet a basic shape of the motif, then you can pick a specific square or rectangle shape to crochet with it and plan your desired project.
The pattern works well with 2 colours, but you can make it much more colourful if you like
As an example for the motif, you can see here pictures of a rectangle rug, the rug measures: 18 X 33 inches (46 X 84 cm).

This is a really fun crochet pattern, using standard crochet stitches and the Tunisian simple stitch, which is described in detail.
This stitch is great to crochet; you will learn it in this pattern (if you don’t know it already) and could use it in future projects.
*******************************************
The pattern includes 3 PDF files:
- Detailed step by step photo tutorial for the motif.
- File without pictures for printing the motif pattern.
- Photo tutorial explaining how to join new yarn without a slipknot.
All are written in US English terms.
It is a good idea to familiarize yourself with the pattern by following the photo tutorial first.
The printable version is best used when you already know the pattern.
Skill level: Intermediate.
A basic knowledge of crochet techniques and stitches required.

Materials:
1. Yarn: any yarn can be used for this motif, depending on your project.
For the rug shown here I used, Hobbii Ribbon yarn, 250gr/125m/137yard; any other brand of super chunky yarn appropriate for a rug can be used.
The amount of yarn required for a rug is detailed in the pattern.
- Crochet hook: the crochet hook should be chosen according to your project, advise on hook choice is given in the pattern.
For the rug I used: Size 10mm (Metric) N/P-15 (US) crochet hook. In the rug, maximum loops on hook are 16, a long Tunisian crochet hook might be needed.
- Scissors.
- Tapestry needle.
- Stitch markers (optional).
