A few years ago, the anime Yuri!! On Ice debuted to the sincere delight of many. It’s a show about love - romantic, platonic, and familial - disguised as a show about competitive figure skating, and it’s an absolutely wonderful series! Part of the storytelling revolves around the music used in the skaters’ routines, and one of the most important is an operatic piece called “Stammi vicino, non te ne andare”. A good friend of mine got me into the show, and I made this for her based on the sheet music for it!

I used Loops & Threads Woolike in Ivory and Black, mostly because it was the smallest, lightest-weight yarn in sheet music colors I could find and I had a lot of ground to cover, pattern-wise. One skein of each should about cover it, maybe two of the ivory just in case! I wildly overestimated how much I needed when I bought it, and it’s been long enough since I made it that I can’t remember how much it actually took.

The pattern is worked in two pieces, one for the front half and one for the back half. Embroider the staff and ledger lines on before sewing the edges together, then add fringe if you want!
