Inspired by the mystical Stardrop fruit from one of my favorite video games, Stardew Valley, these socks are the perfect accessory for a cozy gaming session.

The socks are knitted top-down from cuff to toe, beginning with a 2x2 rib cuff, stockinette in the round, and stranded colorwork. (Colorwork sections only require you to work with 2 colors per row, with the exception of one row.) The heel consists of a slipped stitch ribbing heel flap, heel turn, and gusset. The foot features additional colorwork just before the toe, which is shaped by decreases and then grafted together.

Materials

Needles:

  • 2.5 mm (US 1.5) circular needles

Note: This pattern was designed to be knitted in the round on mini circular needles and 80 cm circular needles using the magic loop technique and instructions are written accordingly, but feel free to adjust for DPNs if that is your preference. If you are using mini circulars, you will need to switch to magic loop or DPNs when reaching the toe section.

Yarn:

This pattern was designed and knitted with Lang Yarns Alpaca Soxx 4-ply in the colors 2 (White) and 16 (Green), and Filcolana Arwetta in Thistle Flower (Purple), and requires the following approximate quantities.

  • White: 41 g / 160 m / 175 yds (50 g / 195 m / 214 yds, 61 g / 238 m / 261 yds)
  • Green: 12 g / 47 m / 52 yds (15 g / 59 m / 65 yds, 18 g / 71 m / 78 yds)
  • Purple: 7 g / 30 m / 33 yds (9 g / 38 m / 42 yds, 10 g / 42 m / 46 yds)

The socks can also be made with any other fingering weight yarns that can achieve the correct gauge.
