Starflower & Tulips is the first in a series of Victorian inspired afghans I have named “Special Things. Lavender flowers emerge from dark green, star shaped, leaves resting on a background of tulips. It is an interesting display of three dimensional texture and color. Its beauty stems from several creative techniques used to knit each flower square. Visual interplay begins when a secondary pattern emerges as tulip shapes travel from star to star. Then, when the squares are sewn together, another design appears at the edges.
The large flower square is then surrounded by another bi-color square knitted in a pattern resembling a trellis. It would make a unique accent piece befitting any home setting. Any intermediate knitter, using either the written or the user friendly, descriptive graphs will be able to successfully complete this afghan.
