This is a cowl with colors, shapes, and textures inspired by the painting Starry, Starry Night. The same pattern can also be used to make an a-line skirt. PATTERNS FOR BOTH THE SCARF AND THE COWL ARE INCLUDED IN YOUR PURCHASE :)

The cowl is worked in the round. At the end, you will have a long tube that will be grafted together into the final cowl shape.

For the sample cowl, I used Urth Monokrom Cotton DK. I chose this yarn because of the gorgeous colorways that were perfect for this project. I used 400 yards of blue, 200 yards of yellow, and 200 yards of green. You can add additional pattern repeats if you want a larger cowl, but this will require more yarn. The finished size of the sample cowl is 7.5” wide (when flattened) and 50” around.

This pattern is written assuming that you know how to knit, including fair isle in the round (tacking long floats), kitchener stitch, and provisional cast on. Minimal instruction for these techniques is provided (there are a few images to help you get started).

Overall, this is a great project if you like changing up your stitch every so often, while not thinking about it too hard :) Enjoy!
