Alternating linen stitch and star stitch creates beautiful textured stripes in this blanket pattern (stripes created with star stitch, i.e. Stars & Stripes!). More texture is added with a pinstripe-look border.

This blanket is the ideal gift for the fussy friend who likes unique one-of-a-kind gifts, but doesn’t normally like the look of crochet. It is also the perfect housewarming gift that both men and women would love.

More than 40 step-by-step photo’s demonstrate not only the detail of making the star stitch, but also how to make the border. Use the photo’s as a reference when you start out, but once you get the hang of it, only print out the last page without photo’s to save on ink and paper (the last page contains the complete written pattern).

Gauge:
Each stripe is roughly 3 inches
8 sc/ch repeats = 3 inches
8 star stitches = 3 inches

The pattern uses yarn that comes in 400g skeins, only 2 and a half skeins are needed, but you can easily adjust the size of the blanket by adding or removing stripes.

The pattern is made in a DK yarn - light worsted (3) - but it would look beautiful in a thicker yarn such as worsted weight (4) as well (please note that this would result in a much bigger blanket).
