I just love the the look of this star stitch, and having it swirl up around a hat like this just seemed like the right thing to do. Paired with a simple lace that leans in the opposite direction, it strikes a lovely balance. And the icing on top is the way the two patterns spiral into the crown to finish it off.

Jade Sapphire Reluxe Lite; 100% Recycled Cashmere; 140 yds 128 m/2.11 oz 60 g - 1 ball of colourway RLL101.

NEEDLES
US #7/4.5 mm —or size needed for specified gauge; 16”/40 cm circular (for body) and DPNs (for crown).
US #6/4 mm—or 1 size smaller than gauge needles; 16”/40 cm circular (for CO and brim).

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, 1 stitch marker, scrap yarn for tubular cast on.

25.5 stitches and 34 rounds = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch, in the round, blocked.
