This fun and colorful hat can be quickly knit using up the odds and ends in your stash. Perfect for gifts! Stripes in ribbing and moss stitch alternate between brief bands of reverse stockinette.

Pattern can be worked with as few as three different colors or as many as seven. Each ribbed or moss stitch section requires less than 40 yards of yarn; while reverse stockinette stitch sections require approximately 5 yards of yarn.

Worked top-down, beginning with either a short I-cord, later twisted into a “button”, or a whimsical I-cord braided tail.

Pattern is both written and charted.
