If, like most knitters, you have in your stash a really lovely ball of yarn, why not use it to create a memorable statement necklace?

This pattern is a great gift knit, but you can also use it to make a flattering accessory for your own special outfit in just a couple of evenings. Perfect for those times when you find you have nothing to wear!

The pattern is perfect for a beginner and only involves knitting flat.

Materials:

3 pairs of knitting needles (1 pair each of US2/2.75mm, US2.5/3mm and US3/3.25mm, or as per tension advice)
15-20g variegated cotton DK yarn (e.g. Sirdar Cotton Prints DK 352 ‘Beachflower’)
3m contrast/complementary cotton DK yarn for finishing
Polyfil toy stuffing
1 necklace fastening
1 tapestry needle for finishing

Techniques: Cast on, Cast off, Increase, Decrease

Stitches: Stocking stitch
