  • works with any patterned or plain sock
  • no picking up stitches
  • has instructions to adjust for a high instep
  • written for magic loop but is easy to convert for other needles if you prefer something else

This heel pattern is quick and fun! It is worked toe up and constructs a faux heel flap. It creates a slight pattern along the edge of the faux heel flap that reminds me of constellations, hence the name. This pattern contains the instructions on how to complete a whole sock as well as the heel if you would like to make your sock in the same way that I have. Otherwise, this heel is easy to substitute into any pattern!

While the sample was made using 2.5mm circular needles, it works just as well with 2.25mm needles!
The sample socks were made in Pixel Atlantis Strong Sock in the colourway Delivering Harry. I used 213 yards to fit my UK size 5 feet.

What you will need -

  • 100g fingering weight yarn (generally I use 50g for a pair of socks but I have rather small feet and you may require more)
  • 2.5mm or 2.25mm circular needles (depending on preference) in 80cm or above
  • Optional – removable stitch marker
