This is a lovely hat with simple construction and also enough going on to be challenging. The band is worked in garter stitch, then the body of the hat is worked in the opposite direction using Leethal’s Sideways Edge Cast On Technique. The lightning-like zig-zag pattern is created with yarn overs which make this a perfect first lace project. Have you ever seen a guy in lace? Try this one for a manly lace hat (oh yeah!). The switchbacks keep things interesting as you work the main part of the hat and the gentle decreases make this a comfortable fit for most heads. The smaller size is perfect for a small adult or child (their heads are deceptively huge) and the larger size will fit most adult craniums.
