This sock recipe is for a toe-up sock with short row heels and toes. It is made in one-piece and joined using Kitchener stitch and crochet like seam. It can be adapted for many different sizes with many different patterns and colourwork. Just make a gauge swatch and go from there.

This pattern has a ribbed cuff that doesn’t require a ribber bed, although you can, of course, use a ribber if you have one available.

You’ll probably want:

  • a standard gauge knitting machine
  • Waste yarn
  • Rip-cord
  • up to 100g 4-ply sock yarn (depending on the size of your socks)
  • Crochet hook or latch tool that fits easily in your stitches
  • Circular hand knitting needle, or 2 straight needles (used for Kitchener Stitch)
  • Tapestry needle

Techniques used:

  • Short row toe
  • Short row heel
  • Figure-8 cast-off
  • Kitchener stitch
  • Crochet seaming
