Steve Vest
The Steve Vest is a relaxed, slightly oversized baby and toddler vest with a boxy silhouette and a cheerful checkered pattern. It is worked flat in two separate pieces – the front and back panels are each knitted from the bottom up and then joined using mattress stitch along the sides and three-needle bind-off at the shoulders.
The checkered pattern is created using the intarsia technique.
To finish, stitches are picked up around both armholes and the neckline to work the ribbed bands in a contrast colour. The neckband can be worked either as a single layer or folded to the inside for a double neckband finish.
Techniques Used
Cast-on, intarsia, left- and right-leaning decreases, three-needle bind-off, mattress stitch, picking up stitches
