Steyrtal is a triangle shawl featuring traditional stitch patterns from Austria and Bavaria. Usually, these stitch patterns are used for socks, stockings, sweaters and cardigans only - there is no old Austrian tradition in shawl knitting (so far, at least!).

The shawl is started with a garter tab variety and worked top down with a center panel. Only right side rows are patterned rows. The border is worked sideways.

Yarn Substitution
Any light fingering or heavy lace weight yarn is suitable for this pattern. Solid or semi-solid yarns show the pattern best.
