Brush up your stranded knitting skills with this unique hat with a bzzzy bee motif.

Use two high contrast yarns in your favourite colours. You will need about 80g of the main/background colour and 20g of the design colour. If you want to work the background of the design area in the contrast colour and the design in the main colour (i.e., a blue hat with an ecru background with a blue pattern), you will need approximately 60g of main colour and 40g of contrast colour.

The top of the hat is closed with a 3-needle bind-off. The pattern contains tips for successful stranded knitting. You can adjust the circumference of the finished hat by adding or deleting stitches between the bee motifs or using heavier or lighter yarn and changing needle size in relation to the yarn.

The stranded portion of the pattern is in chart form only. The bee design is adapted from Andrea Rangel (2017), Alterknit Stitch Dictionary, Interweave Press.
