Stitch Oasis
Each one of us can be an oasis of peace. --Desmond Tutu
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For those of us that love the fiber arts, we use our crocheting and knitting to find our own little oasis of peace. Working through the stitches helps quiet the mind and create a sense of calm.
If you like my one-skein scarves that are crocheted sideways from tip to tip, you will also like Stitch Oasis. This scarf has a little trick to add depth to the center point, but without consuming a lot more yarn. And, I included a border on both edges that is formed as you crochet through the rows, plus an additional lacy edging added to the bottom edge.
Stitch Oasis takes it up a notch with added details and being a little bit more involved, but it is still an easy crochet project. Best of all with a generous length and additional depth it is still a one skein wonder! It really is amazing how, with a little thought, you can make a scarf with a generous length and a little more depth and only use about 440 yards of fingering weight yarn.
For my scarf I used Malabrigo Sock in the lovely and soothing “Kris” color. Malabrigo Sock is a light fingering weight yarn that is 100 grams and 440 yards.
So, find that skein of light fingering weight yarn in your favorite soothing color, and take some time and enjoy the stitches and find your own oasis of peace, and hold positive thoughts for peace around the world.
