Stone cactus (Lithops)
Stone cacti (Lithops sp.) are basically two leaves, joined to each other and full of water, with a small fissure where the flowers grow from. They accumulate so much water that they can survive up to half a year without any, and they resemble stones to avoid predators. The tops of the leaves of garden variants range in color from grey-green to pinks and dark reds, like my sample. This cute amigurumi cactus really can pass for a real stone cactus, but you won´t even need to water it twice a year. Fast and easy to crochet, this cactus will bring joy to your home or office, especially if you combine it with any of my other cacti!

You need to be familiar with the basic stitches used in amigurumi (chains, slip stitch, single crochet (US)/double crochet (UK), half double crochet (US)/half treble crochet (UK), double crochet (US)/ treble crochet (UK), increases, invisible decreases, to work in the front, back and third loops, to make front and back post stitches, and to join two pieces together with crochet stitches). There are photo-tutorials to learn how to do invisible decreases, front and back post stitches, and how to work in the front, back and third loops, with both right- and left-handed versions, if you need them.
