Stonerose is a textured raglan sweater designed for everyday wear. The mock neck collar, sculpted raglan lines, and wide ribbed hem give it a slightly tailored feel while still staying comfortable and easy to style. It pairs just as naturally with relaxed denim as it does with higher waisted trousers.
Knit from the top down, the sweater moves from a folded ribbed collar into a textured lace raglan yoke framed by bold raglan seams. From there the fabric shifts into a knit and purl texture that carries through the body and sleeves, giving the whole piece a cohesive look and keeping the knitting engaging throughout.
Design Details
The folded mock neck collar frames the face and flows into a textured raglan yoke bordered by pronounced raglan seams formed with increases and crossed stitches. The yoke texture catches the light while the body fabric settles into a structured knit and purl pattern that highlights stitch definition.
The wide ribbed hem sits just below the natural waist and helps balance the proportions of the sweater, making it easy to wear tucked, half tucked, or loose.
Pattern Highlights
- Textured raglan yoke with clean lines
- Folded mock neck collar
- Engaging knit and purl texture throughout
- Easy to style with a slightly tailored silhouette
Construction Overview
Stonerose is knit seamlessly from the top down in the round. The sweater begins with a provisional cast on for the folded 1x1 ribbed collar.
The raglan yoke is then worked while increasing along the raglan seams within the textured pattern. After the yoke is complete, the sleeves are separated and the body is worked in the round in the knit and purl texture to the desired length. Sleeves are worked in the round and both sleeves and body are finished with 1x1 ribbing.
Yarn Notes
We knit our sample in Life in the Long Grass DK Twist, a smooth merino DK that shows off the texture clearly and gives the sweater a soft, comfortable feel.
A yarn with good stitch definition works best here so the raglan texture and body fabric read cleanly. Tonal solids especially highlight the structure, though heathers and gentle variegation also work beautifully.
