This simple textured hat knitted in the round is a great way to become familiar with twisted stitch cables.

The attractive open lace effect makes this hat perfect for summer, especially if knitted in cotton. Equally, it can be knitted in wool for a woolly aspect and greater warmth. Instructions are included in how best to block each look.

Sizing:
Adult S (20”) - finished 17” unstretched*
Adult M (22”) - finished 19” unstretched
Adult L (24”) - finished 21” unstretched
Hat will stretch up to 3-4” when worn. Pictures show a M(22” size) on a 23” head, knit to 10” tall.*

Yarn:
King Cole Bamboo Cotton 50% bamboo, 50% cotton; 252yd/230m per 100g skein; colour: Damson: 11,1 skeins.
(If knitting a tall brim or a slouchier hat, you may need more yarn, especially for the largest size.)

Needles:
3.5mm/US4 circular needles of preferred length for working hat (40cm/16” or 60cm+/24”+ for working in magic loop)
3.75mm/US5 circular needles (same length as smaller needle)
Extra 3.75mm/US5 needle (for working three-needle bind off)

Gauge: 26 sts x 32 rows in hat pattern (P1, C2F) on 3.75mm needles equals 4”/10cm
(Row gauge is not important for this pattern as you will knit until your desired height)
