I started putting this pattern together whilst sailing overnight on a very stormy sea (it’s a lovely coincident that the pattern reflects waves!).

The original draft was a typed up version of some rough notes I made for myself (using Hooked by Robin’s pattern for aran gloves as inspiration), in an attempt to achieve a matching pair of gloves. I had always intended to revisit and rewrite, and finally here it is!

This newly written and revised pattern should make it easier for anyone wishing to make their own pair of Stormy Seas Gloves. This version is more clearly and consistently written, and gives a much neater end result, whilst at same time gives a near identical overall end result.

I’ve used Scheepjes Our Tribe yarn, and I’ve discovered that it’s notoriously difficult to get two perfectly matching gloves from any single ball of yarn - you may get lucky, you may not! But it’s such lovely yarn with gradual gradients that I don’t think it matters much. If you just crochet from the ball without worrying about the colours, you’re likely to get two pairs from the same ball of yarn!
