The Storyvale shawl is like a book you turn to for escape. It even has a trope-y name! Each row feels like part of a captivating page-turner, leaving you curious to see what comes next. This asymmetrical shawl design is worked on the bias in a clever and deceptively simple all-over stitch pattern. It finishes with a surprise twist: a combination of techniques that create gentle shaping. The result is beautiful texture that lets your yarn become a main character. The pattern includes instructions for fingering & DK weight versions but can be worked in any yarn weight. Curl up, cast on, and discover how the story unfolds!

What’s included? This pattern has been tech edited, thoroughly tested, has 12 pages including written & charted instructions, a stitch visualization guide, several video tutorials, provides modification guidance, a border introduction that includes illustration & comprehensive instruction, trackers, a schematic, and an appendix for quick reference.

What’s the experience? This stitch pattern is a lot of fun and before you know it, you will be on auto-pilot mode as evidenced by the test knitters. Having said that, the stitch pattern may take some swatching in order to get comfortable before working the shawl. There is video support for working the stitch in either the continental or English style and another video about tinking, fixing dropped stitches, etc. The edging/BO concept is a little unique but a detailed introduction with full length companion video provides support. Although unusual, test knitters considered it pretty easy and fun once they started.

Tester experience and advice? The test knitters absolutely loved knitting this joyful shawl with many of them already planning their second (like I did!) They appreciated the pattern flexibility and comprehensive support. Their advice is to take some time to swatch, read, and watch the videos, but most importantly, have fun picking out the yarn and relax while knitting up this fantastic stitch.
