This sock pattern was designed for the Sock Knitters Anonymous group on Ravelry for the January 2019 Mystery Sock, or MOCK, to fit the stranded colorwork challenge. Because it is a mystery, no photos are present in any of the clues. Please use a spoiler shield as the first photo of your Ravelry project page if knitting this along with the MOCK knit-a-long.

Named for the fabulous coming-of-age movie about friendship, I hope this pattern can spark comraderie amongst the knitters participating in the initial KAL.

Materials:

  • Fingering weight sock yarn – 60-70 grams main color (MC) and 50-60 grams contrast color (CC) (Designer used Hazel Knits Artisan Sock in Carbon Fiber and Electrolyte)
  • One US size 1 (2.25mm) circular needles, 32” or longer – or size for desired gauge (Note: Many people go up one needle size for colorwork, which would be a 2.5mm needle.) This pattern is written for magic loop but can be adapted to your preferred needle type
  • Optional: Circular needle one size smaller than the one being used for the colorwork
  • Locking/removable stitch markers & tapestry needle

Gauge:
8 - 9 spi (stitches per inch) in 2-color stranded colorwork

  • At 9 spi, the sock will be 7.5” (8.4”, 9.3”) in circumference.
  • At 8 spi, the sock will be 8.5” (9.5”, 10.5”) in circumference.
