The Strandhill Wrap Top is a sleek, classic design that’s perfect for transitional weather in the spring and autumn. It’s worked seamlessly from the top down in stocking stitch with fingering-weight and lace-weight mohair yarns held together. You could also use a DK-weight yarn if you prefer working with a single strand.

The top is worked by casting on stitches for the back neck. The yoke is worked flat and is shaped with raglan increases, and the V-neck is shaped with leaning increases. Towards the end of the yoke shaping, the rate of raglan increases is changed to give the V-neck a better shape.

The body and sleeves are then separated and the wrap shape is created by continuing to make leaning increases at the inner edges. The rate of increase is changed for the final few rows of the body to ensure the top wraps around the waist well. The body is cast off with an I-cord edging.

The sleeves are worked with decreases throughout to taper the sleeves for a classic fit. They are finished with a three-stitch I-cord bind-off.

Finally, ties are created by working an I-cord which is then worked as an applied I-cord along the inner edges of the body, to create a sleek trim, and then separated again to finish the tie on the other side.

I would classify this as an intermediate pattern.
