Practise your cables with the String of Hearts Dishcloth pattern.

Use size 8 or 9 needles and worsted weight cotton yarn like Peaches and Cream. Gauge is not an issue with this knitting pattern. You can usually get two dishcloths from one ball of solid color yarn.
