If you don’t know what to do with all your scrap and waste yarn, this is the right project for you. I have prepared a random stripe pattern, which you can easily modify – the color possibilities are endless. The sample shawl is worked with three colors but you can always work the pattern with more colors if you like.

Color pattern is charted but you can manage without chart reading skills, since you only follow colours from the chart. Everything else is written. You don’t have to cut any yarns during the knitting; you will thread your yarns easily in the i-cord edge (photo-tutorial of this provided).

One Size, finished (wet-blocked) measurements:

  • Top edge width 61”/155 cm
  • Depth 22”/55 cm

Yarn: Any fingering weight yarn is okay for this pattern. The sample is worked with Hedgehog Fibres Sock (100g/437yds/400m/skein)
You need three (3) colors:
Color A: Graphite (~dark gray), approx.: 58g/254yds/232m
Color B: Urchin (~white speckled), approx.: 56g/245yds/224m
Color C: Naïve (~pink), approx.: 35g/153yds/140m
Needles: US 4 (3,5 mm) long circular needle, US 6 (4 mm) long circular needle for BO.
Other: Tapestry needle, stitch markers (8).

Gauge: 20 sts/28 rows = 4” 10 cm in garter st WET BLOCKED.
The exact gauge is not important in this pattern however different gauge will affect to your yardage! This shawl was knitted with exact yarn amounts given in the pattern. Note that if you work with different yarn or different gauge, your yarn may run out. However, you can bind off your shawl whenever your yarn runs out, or you may continue the stripe pattern Prepare with enough yarn.
