Erratum: There is an error on Round 1 where you are joining in the round. It reads: “Round 1: Dividing onto 4 dpns as follows: first needle - k2, 2nd needle - k4, m1, k6, 3rd needle - k2, m1, k5, m1, k2 4th needle - k6, m1, k2, place the first needle behind the last four stitches on the left needle (this joins in the round), k the 2 sets of stitches together as the last 2 stitches. You will wind up with 33 sts on three needles (11 sts per needle) which are joined in the round.”

Instead of four stitches there will be two stitches.

This dress is knitted in one piece, top down, seaming the sleeves. You can decide to knit the skirt in the round or flat. Both options are given in the pattern. The dress was designed especially to fit tiny rag dolls made from Ann Wood’s pattern, but it will also fit other similarly sized dolls.

Any lace weight yarn should work just fine. I used punch needle yarn for all three prototypes, since I have it in lots of colors.

I put the gauge in, but I wouldn’t worry too much about it. At this size it’s easier to just start and see if it will fit your doll rather than knit a gauge square. Since it’s knitted top down, you can try the dress on your doll as you work and get a really good idea of how it will fit once you join it in the round at the bottom of the bodice.

I designed the pattern at Christmas time, thus the two Christmas versions, but it can be made in many color combinations, or even in just one yarn as the lovely dress by nottyknitter was.
