I still have not had the time to rewrite this or add in the schematic and drawings of the pattern to show the shape etc.

One day I will get around to the changes based on the feedback I received but in the mean time please enjoy this this free version.

A nice fun and simple sweater for a greyhound. This pattern is designed to be a slim fit for ease of movement….especially during zoomies.

I have made this a few times now in various yarns from my stash.
As long as you get 18 st and 24 rows on a 4.5mm/US 7 needle any yarn you like can be used for this sweater.
Just take into account your hounds activity level and your activity level for the laundry. Active and outdoor hounds and acrylic yarn would be good for ease of wash and wear, moderate activity hounds a wool/acrylic blend or for indoor dogs wool if you can go for a gentle wash or its a machine washable yarn.
Self striping yarns would also look great if you don’t go for a 2 colour stripe.

Some suggestions are Lion Brand or Red Heart in the USA, King Cole or Wendy Aran in the UK and Bendigo or Spotlight Moda Vera in Australia.

My hounds are walked on harnesses so this is a great sweater for the harnesses to be over the garment and not underneath.

Sizing selection, better to make the smaller size than it being too big as your knitting will give once your hound is wearing the sweater. So if your hound has a 30.5 inch chest go for the 30 inch medium size. If your tension is out a little, go down a size.

There are instructions for making a polo neck, lower crew neck and for a leg opening modification if your hound does not like being helped in and out of a sweater. Mine love it. But some don’t.

If you make a sweater i’d love it if you can post a photo of your hound, the more hounds out there looking smart in their sweaters makes them look groovy and maybe more people will adopt one so they can have a hound in a groovy sweater too…You get my drift.
