A garter stitch sontag was featured as a fashion plate in La Mode and Der Bazar in 1861, and then in Godey’s Lady’s Book in 1862. It is a simple, cozy, and stretchy design with a shell stitch around the border.

Unfortunately, the image had no details, so I utilized stripes that I found in several European sontag patterns, as well as a CDV to create this piece. Feel free to make this piece without stripes.
