This cuddly star fish/sea star cushion is knitted with no seams. The only sewing you need to do is securing the ends.

The pattern is mostly in written form, but also includes pictures of the techniques used to form the points and corners.

You can make this pattern with any yarn. The large cushions/pillows have been made with Chunky/Bulky yarn and the other with James and each measure about 60cm/24in across. The pattern has been designed to use one ball of yarn.

The small cushion was knitted with a 4ply (fine) baby yarn and measures 27cm/11in cross.

Whatever weight yarn you use, choose a needle size one size smaller than you would normally use for the yarn as the cushion (pillow) gets stretched when it is stuffed.

You will need a very long, CIRCULAR needle, ideally 150cm or about 4.5 ft long to start with if knitting with the chunky/bulky yarn; the longer the better as this will ensure that you don’t twist the stitches and end up with a knitted mobius strip! You can change to shorter cable lengths as you get nearer the centre.

You will also need ten stitch markers - ideally five each of two contrasting colours - and a small piece of contrast yarn to mark the start of the round.
