Socks featuring a distinctive yet simple allover texture, interrupted only by a band of stockinette along the sides to frame your foot. The stitch pattern is wonderfully stretchy, making it perfect for socks.

They were inspired by my Studded Mittens, which are also constructed “toe up.”

Skills required: Judy Becker’s Magic Cast On, afterthought heel, i-cord bind off, grafting/kitchener stitch.

Yarn: Two skeins Quince & Co. Chickadee Heathers, color Sabine.

Important note:
Finding a true sport weight sock yarn can be tricky. I highly recommend using Quince & Co. Chickadee to ensure success. However, if you do decide to substitute an alternate yarn, I would caution against something too light, whose row gauge might result in problems like insufficient heel depth; if you must choose between a dk and a fingering weight yarn, choose a dk.
