Skew Too were published in Knitty Winter Issue 17. These were my original submission to Knitty which include separate instructions for the right and left mitts and picked up stitches along the top and bottom edges. They are knit with one skein of beautiful Koigu Painter’s Palette Premium Merino (KPPPM) yarn. The pattern is knit to create a slant so that the stripes are skewed. I also added a small, slanted lace pattern to make the backs of the hands more interesting.

Sue’s Skew mitts are knit at an angle with increases that eventually form a rectangle (more of a rhombus). The rectangle is sewn together at the shorter sides, leaving an opening for the thumb. After the rectangle is sewn into a cylinder, sts are picked up at the bottom and knit in the round. Stitches are picked up at the top and knit into skewed points. Stitches are also picked up for the thumb.

My daughter wears the size Medium mitts. Her hands measure about 7.5 inches/19 cm in length and 7.5 inches/19 cm circumference. The size medium Mitts measure approximately 6 inches/15 cm in length and 7/18 cm in width.
