This top began with a craving: something airy and easy to wear. A light summer layer that could just as well work in cooler seasons, with a shirt peeking from underneath. The result is Sugar, a relaxed tee with texture. A simple, satisfying make with a few clever details — and all the space you need to make it your own.

MATERIALS
Yarn: 3 (3, 3, 4, 4) (5, 5, 5, 6) skeins of Eolie by Fibre Gentili (100% Italian wool, 328 yds / 300 m – 50 g), colourway: Mandorla.

Alternatively, use approx. 750 (830, 960, 1100, 1190) (1320, 1380, 1510, 1690) yds / 685 (760, 880, 1005, 1090) (1210, 1260, 1380, 1545) m of any lace-weight yarn with similar yardage.

Needles: US 6 / 4 mm circular needles for the body and sleeves, and US 2.5 / 3 mm circular needles for the folded reverse stockinette edges.

Notions: Stitch markers, tapestry needle.

GAUGE
22 sts x 36 rows = 4” / 10 cm in the stitch pattern on US 6 / 4 mm needles, after blocking.

STITCH PATTERN
The stitch pattern used is called the Sand Stitch.
It is a simple 2-row repeat, easy to memorise without needing to refer to the written pattern.
Cast on multiple of 2 sts + 1.
Row 1 (WS): K.
Row 2 (RS): K1, p1, k1, rep to end.
Repeat rows 1–2.

CONSTRUCTION
Sugar is worked mostly seamlessly from the top down, with only the deep neck portion worked flat. The top is finished with folded reverse stockinette edges.
