The Sugar Rush Hat is a fast, bulky knit with a clear point of view. Worked at a dense gauge, it’s warm, structured, and satisfyingly quick to finish. The 2×1 brim rolls straight into a broken-rib body, with plain knit rounds to give your hands a breather. It’s the sort of project you cast on because you want a hat today—not someday—and you don’t mind if it makes a bit of a statement on top. Whether you’re knitting for yourself or for someone who appreciates a hat with opinions, Sugar Rush gets it done.

YARN 1 (1, 2, 2) skein(s) Spincycle Yarns Plump, bulky weight
(100% Superwashed American Merino; 100 yd / 91 m per 100 g).
Shown in: Ghost Ranch (pink and blue) and Bad Egg (neon yellow)

OR substitute Bulky Weight:
90 (100, 115, 125) yd / 82 (91, 105, 114) m

Rolled Brim Add-On:
If you choose to knit the optional rolled brim, plan to add approximately
26 (28, 30, 32) yards to the amounts listed. That will mean an extra skein for sizes 1 and 2.

Note: These yarn amounts are estimates. Any changes that knitters make to gauge or the hat’s measurements will change the amount of yarn you’ll need.

NEEDLES*
US Size 8 / 5 mm circular, 16” / 40 cm length for the hat’s brim; alternatively, one longer circular needle for Magic Loop.
