Sughero socks
This pattern was designed for Quince&Co.
Inspired by my childhood memories of Finnish homes where some floors were made of cork, soft underfoot and never cold, these socks pay homage to that unique material. While cork is most familiar in wine stoppers, its source, the cork oak tree, does not grow in Finland. Now making my home in Italy, I was captivated when I first encountered the cork oak, its richly textured bark unlike any tree I had seen before. Sughero (Italian for cork) lends its name and character to these socks, a design rooted in both memory and discovery.
Sughero socks are worked cuff down. They have a slip stitch heel flap and the gusset decreases are placed under the sole. The instructions are written for the Magic Loop method.
