If you have a basket of scrap yarn, you are in luck. This is a mindless, quick, and easy cowl that was designed for my young nieces but can easily be modified for a teen or adult by adding stitches in multiples of 4.

Nearly every day, I read that knitters are looking for a quick weekend project for a gift. This is it!

This summer, I helped my nieces dye mini skeins with food coloring and Kool-aid and then needed a quick project to use up some of the yarn. I enjoyed the experience so much, start to finish, that I just had to share it with you!

Note: You can find details about our dying project in the pattern. It’s a fun, yet an inexpensive project for kids of all ages. Yes, even for you!

This pattern is great for beginners. You’ll need to:

join in the round
knit
purl
alternate colors for fading
