Some Notes about Sizing:
I generally like to have a sock that fits snugly around my foot and will typically choose a size that gives me 1” of
negative ease. So, I made a size B sock, my foot measures 7.5” and the finished measurement of the knitted sock is
6.5” which will give me the negative ease that I like. If you don’t like so much negative ease, you can pick a size that
will give you less!
When you are determining how long to knit the foot of your sock, I find the easiest way to measure your foot is to
stand on a blank sheet of paper and trace your foot. You can then measure the length from your heel to your toe. I
don’t like my socks to be more than ½” shorter in length than my foot measurement, as anything shorter makes my
toes feel cramped. Therefore, you will want to knit the foot of the sock until it is about 1 ½ - 2” shorter than the total
length of your measured foot. The toe decrease rows will account for about 1 – 1 ½“ of additional foot length
(depending on your gauge!).
