Summer Scrap Yarns Top
Imagine wanting a cool, wearable sleeveless top even in a hot summer like this… Imagine having a shelf full of skeins of gorgeous, even expensive, summer yarns, single or unique…
You’d like to buy lots of new skeins of linen or other fine summer yarns, but you think you’ll have to use up the ones in your closet first.
So I decided to experiment with this new pattern to solve the problem of skeins and then create a summery, colorful, cheerful, and above all fresh top sleeveless.
Scrap Yarns Top is worked from the top down. The top is constructed so: the first section is worked with shoulder increases, then the front and back yoke are worked separately in flat. Front and back yoke are then joined again to form the body, which is worked in the round on the circular needle.
It does not use any short rows. The pattern is very very easy!
Size guide: I have designed the top to have approx. 10 cm / 3,93 “ of positive ease.
YARN: 250g total (2 threads hold togheter) Use the yarns you have (but each with fingering/lace weight), mixing them together as you like, taking two at a time. The important thing is to switch from one
color to the other, replacing one thread at a time. In the photos, I’ve used two different colored threads on the same needle, but also two identical threads. I mixed together linen, cotton, silk and
bamboo yarns.
I used almost by chance, but it’s just an appareance (about 25 g each):
ITO Kinu (colors: 365; 93)
Isager Trio 2 (colors: Thyme, Strawberry, Indigo, Blush, Camel. Frost, Petroleum)
Hjertegarn New Arezzo (1340)
