These socks were inspired by the beautiful tree blossoms contrasting against the blue sky and are a celebration of Summer arriving. They can be knit at any time of the year, even during the darkest months when we may need to be reminded that warmth and sunshine will return!

These socks are knit from the cuff down with a twisted ribbed cuff, a ribbed heel-flap and gusset and have a section of colourwork on the leg and a section before decreasing for the toe. This pattern uses the magic loop circular needle method (but can be knit with dpns).

Needle size is chosen according to the size required and your knitting gauge for the colour work sections:

  • Size Small: (foot circumference 19-20cm) can be obtained using 2.25mm (US 1) needles, 38sts x 40 rounds, 10cm (4 inches)
  • Size Medium: (foot circumference 21-22cm) using 2.5mm (US1.5) needles, 34 sts x 38 rounds, 10cm (4 inches)
  • Size Large: (foot circumference 23-24cm) using 2.75mm (US 2) needles, 32sts x 36 rounds 10cm, (4 inches)

Yarn Required:
Any Fingering weight 4 ply sock yarn can be used, approximately 380m (415yds) in total.
