This cardigan involves no seaming, as it is constructed starting with the yoke, and each subsequent piece is picked up directly from the last piece, and the sleeves are knit in the round on 2 circular needles (although you may choose to knit the sleeves flat, in which case you will need to seam.) The length of both the sleeves and the body can easily be modified as they are worked from the top down. For example, the sleeves could be made 3/4 length, and the body could be made very short or very long. An alternate edge finishing is provided if you prefer less curl.

The only special skill this pattern requires is the ability to do a provisional cast on. You can find an excellent tutorial here. However, because of the unconventional construction it is recommended for an experienced knitter.

June 24, 2010 - an updated pattern is available, including more pictures to help visualize the construction!

The yarns noted above are suggestions; it is shown in Ella Rae Silkience.
