This sun motif is made with two rounds of dc (UK tr) and a third round using a variety of stitches and a picot to form the sun’s rays.

I made this sun with a cotton yarn which is great for shape definition, I think - but you can use any yarn fiber/weight you like.

My sun is in fact an eight point star. I’ve noticed that most star patterns/shapes tend to use a five or six point design, and that our own star, the sun, gets to have a few more points. And so it should ;)

The pattern is written for both US and UK/International crocheters, and there’s a photo tutorial on the page, too, so you can follow along with the pix if you prefer.

A bright yellow yarn is fun to start with - but why not try bold red, burnt orange, or pastel pinks/violets?
