With one skein of worsted weight yarn, you’re limited as to what you can make, usually small accessories. If you’re looking for a large shawl with a width close to 70 inches, you’ll need more than one skein. I wanted to design a shawl though that used that one skein you had on hand. I introduce to you the Summit Shawl. The combination of German short rows (video and written instructions included) and large size 17 (12-12.75 mm) needles allows you to quickly knit a large airy shawl that can be worn throughout the year. Included are pictures and video tutorials to help with the various short rows.
Many types of fibers, textures and colors will work with this design, limited only by what you have in your stash. Side note: you can also use other weights with this design! From lace to bulky, this design can be used over and over with whatever you have available in those bins under your bed, bags stacked in your closet, or baskets in your cabinets.
