Sun Coasters
This is an intermediate / adventurous beginner level pattern, written in US terminology.
The pattern includes instructions for two versions of the Sun Coaster:
- Big Sun: more detailed, perfect for plates and pots – roughly 27,5 cm/11” in diameter
- Mini Sun: simplified, perfect for cups and glasses – roughly 14 cm/5,5” in diameter Also perfect to use as an applique that can be sewn onto clothing, blankets, pillows…
This pattern includes a photo and video tutorial on how to make the following stitches: side SLST, DTR, TR
Materials needed:
- Hook: 4,5 mm (for the Big Sun) & 3,5 mm (for the Mini Sun)
- Yarn: Worsted (medium/4) weight. 3-4 colors. Perfect project for using up small scraps!
- Wool needle You could technically make this pattern with any other yarn weight, using a hook size recommended on the yarn label.
Stitches used (US terminology):
- mc – magic circle
- CH – chain
- SLST – slipstitch
- side SLST – side slipstitch (photo & video tutorial included)
- SC – single crochet
- HDC – half double crochet
- DC – double crochet
- TR – treble crochet (video tutorial included)
- DTR – double treble crochet (video tutorial included)
