Sunburst Doily is an example of a vintage join-as-you-go crochet method known as crochet braid. The doily is created by working rings of short row braid which are a single shell wide, and which are joined to the rest of the doily as they are worked.

I designed this doily as an easy to follow introduction to the crochet braid method. Each braid ring is worked in a separate color, requiring the following yardages:
• 5 yds red-orange
• 15 yds orange
• 25 yds yellow
• 35 yds light yellow
• 45 yds cream
• 60 yds white

It also looks elegant in a single color, and especially in a variegated thread where the braid construction method will really show off the changing colors.
