You know the song….Easy Like Sunday Morning. Well, that’s exactly what this project is intended to be!
This shawl was designed to be a nice easy project whether you work on it on Sunday Mornings, whilst travelling, at a knit and natter group or just having a chilled out Netflix and knitting session.
The shawl is worked from the top down where simple yarnover increases give the shawl its deep triangle shape. Using just knit and purl stitches for the body it makes for a nice, mindless knit as you work your way through your prettiest skein of yarn, the pattern lets the yarn just do its thing! The shawl is designed to make the most of a 100g / 425m skein of 4ply or sock yarn and a 20g / 85m mini-skein to add a pop of colour on the border.
The sample works a very simple lace pattern for the border, but you could choose to work this section in garter stitch instead if you wish. Instructions are given for both options.
Options are also included for where to start the border if you are working with a skein with less yardage.
The end result is a large, cozy shawl that will showcase a beautiful colourway and a contrast colour. It’s a great alternative for a yarn sock set if you want to make something other than socks!
The pattern has been tech edited and test knitted prior to publication.

“The Sunday Morning Shawl is a fun pattern. The stockinette body makes for an easy knit for lazy days or while sitting with friends or family. The lace section has easy to remember repeated sections, making this a good lace project for a beginner knitter” - Lila
“This is an ideal pattern for a beginner who would like an introduction to lace edging. The contrast edge is perfect for using up yarn left over from another project. This shawl makes a perfect ‘TV knitting’ project. The stitch count chart is excellent and helps with checking the number of rows/stitches. Highly recommend this if you want an straightforward easy shawl project!” - Fiona
