I designed this Sunflower because I thought my ex-Dearest wanted it. Turns out he only wanted me to make it because he thought his idea was better than my “Artsy Fartsy” Sunflower Wallhanging. Men!

Materials: DMC Petra No5 - one of each in 53854, 5434, 5938, 5700 and 3 in 5742, Florists wire, ½m wadding, 30cm square of felt, 25cm embroidery ring.

The florists wire is used on the petals and leaves to keep their shape and stop them drooping when hung. I have used two lengths of 28g x 12”. You can use a thicker and/or longer lengths if you prefer. The embroidery ring is used to keep the flower centre in shape. Choose brown felt to blend in or a brighter colour to contrast. This is only to stop the white wadding to show through the stitches.

Equipment: 2.5mm hook, tapestry needle,

Tension: 22 dc x 26 rows to 10 cm square.

Finished Size: The Sunflower measures about 51cm (20 inches) across.
